Family Practice

• Will typically work 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Mon-Fri), but shift pattern is subject to change as determined by the Director to meet needs of the hospital
• Oversee the medical care of the clients with a unit having 30-75 clients.
• See approximately 5-15 patients per day for acute illness, injury or follow-up.
• Available for new admissions which have to be completed within 24 hours of admission
• Perform clinics in the morning
• Must comply with HHSC immunization requirements
• Must submit to HHSC required drug test
• Must submit to HHSC required fingerprinting
• Must complete facility and HHSC required training
• Must be able to pass (TIPS) - Treatment, Intervention and Protection Strategies
• Comply with facility Standard Operating Procedures to meet standards for accrediting agencies; specifically, Joint Commission guidelines, CMS Standards, NTSH Policy and Directives and HHSC Standards, Rules and Directives.
• Prefer experience treating those with mental health and/or developmental disabilities
• Completed a residency in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
• Must be licensed as a medical doctor by the State of Texas with no sanctions.
• Must have current registration certificates from the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the Texas Department of Public Safety Controlled Substance Board
• Must possess a National Provider Identified (NPI#) as defined by Medicare Part B.
• Copies of CPR certifications must be kept on file with DSSLC’s Contracting office.
