Addiction Medicine Locums Opportunity

Job description

A leading inpatient behavioral health and medical detox program is seeking an Addiction Medicine physician for a full-time locum tenens assignment. This is a highly structured, clinically meaningful role focused on medically supervised withdrawal and substance use disorder treatment within a collaborative inpatient setting.

Position Highlights
Full-time inpatient addiction medicine coverage
Immediate start with ongoing assignment through at least October (potential extension)
Structured weekday clinical schedule with limited overnight call
Strong multidisciplinary support team including APP coverage
Epic EMR system
Temporary privileges available for qualified providers
Clinical Focus

This is a medical detox–focused role (not general psychiatry), centered on inpatient stabilization and withdrawal management for:

Opioid use disorder
Alcohol withdrawal and detoxification

Providers should be comfortable managing medically complex detox cases using evidence-based protocols and pharmacologic support.

Treatment Modalities & Experience Required

Candidates must be experienced and comfortable with:

Buprenorphine-based therapies (Suboxone, Subutex, Sublocade)
Methadone management
Alcohol withdrawal protocols (e.g., Librium)
Inpatient detox stabilization and monitoring
Practice Environment
Inpatient behavioral health / detox unit
Average census of approximately 6 patients per shift
14-bed inpatient unit
Dedicated APP support (PA/NP)
Collaborative, structured care team
Epic EMR system

Schedule Overview
Monday–Friday daytime clinical hours (approx. 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM)
Approximately 2 nights of overnight beeper call per week
Overtime eligible after 40 clinical hours per week
Additional scheduling details provided upon placement

Ideal Candidate
Board Certification required
BLS certification required
Strong inpatient addiction medicine and detox experience
Comfortable managing acute withdrawal and medication-assisted treatment protocols
