Locum - Physician Assistant (PA) - Surgery - Cardiovascular Needed in Syracuse, NY

Assignment Type: Locum Tenens

Start Date: ASAP upon credentialing
On-Call Requirements: Not required; provider may take primary or secondary call if desired

Reason for Coverage: Paternity leave

Practice Setting:

Hospital cardiac surgery

Operating room coverage primarily, with some ICU/floor coverage

Call is optional; primary call requires ICU patient management via phone (no 24/7 inpatient coverage)

Secondary call is once a week and/or 1 weekend per month

Patient Demographics: Adult
Average Patients per Day: Varies
Documentation System/EMR: Epic
Trauma Level: Level 2
Supervision: Not autonomous; supervising physician present during assignment
Estimated Credentialing Timeframe: 1 month


Compensation & Reimbursement:

Optional Call Pay (if provider chooses to take call):

24-hour Call: includes 4 hours gratis

Holiday 24-hour Call: includes 4 hours gratis

Night Call: includes 2 hours gratis

Holiday Night Call: includes 2 hours gratis

Call Back & Holiday Call Back: TBD

Facility reimburses hotel, flight, and rental car



Required Duties:

- Chest tube insertions

- Retrieval of vascular tissues for use as bypass conduit

- First assist in the OR


Required Qualifications:

- NCCPA certification – required

- Active New York State License – required

- BLS & ACLS certification – required

- Cardiac surgery OR experience including first assist, vein harvest – required

- Robotic experience – preferred

- Copy of NPDB self-query report (pulled within last month or 90 days) – required

- Provider may take primary or secondary call if desired

- Not an autonomous role; physician supervision is provided
