References are super important
Locum tenens clinicians require several references throughout many of the processes of going to work. We want to make sure you know this ahead of time. Trust us, it seems like a giant pain because you might need a lot – but just give us the names and we’ll take care of the rest.
Facilities may be different
Each may have different requirements – we’ll do the research and help you navigate the process.
We need your photo
We require a recent, professional headshot of you (yes, that means you can’t be snorkeling or wearing a sombrero). Even a selfie will suffice, however, the background must be clean and simple. Your photo may be used for:
Work badge at the facility
Accompanying CVs
Professional references
Who will be reaching out to me?
We aim for a single point of contact. This could be a CVO Specialist, CVO Coordinator, or CVO Licensing Specialist.
What we need to start the process
Photo, references, copy of government ID, medical licenses, education documents, certifications, CMEs, etc.
Which process are you starting?
Credentialing
Let us start off by saying we are so glad that you are interested in working with us on a locum tenens assignment!
Here are some tips to get started:
- Please complete the LocumTenens.com credentialing application and make sure we have the most recent copy of your CV.
- Your application also includes a release that, once received, allows us to begin our internal credentialing process.
- Gather any available credentialing documents to submit with your file - we will keep those on file to use when helping you work with potential jobs in the future.
- Send us your photo. As we mentioned above, we require a recent, professional headshot. Your photo may be used for:
- Work badge at the facility
- Accompanying CV's
- Professional references
- We will reach out to your references - you may want to let them know to expect this!
- Once your completed application is received by our CVO, your Credentialing Coordinator may reach out to introduce themselves and let you know if they need any additional information to complete the process.
- You may get additional questions about the information you submitted - we want to make sure we understand your education and practice background so we can find the best fit for you.
- You will be notified when your credentialing process is complete. Approved LocumTenens.com credentialing is good for 3 years.
Privileging
Welcome to the team! We’re so glad you have found an assignment that’s the right fit for you.
Here are some things that will happen next:
- If you aren’t already credentialed, you will start the Credentialing process.
- Your CVO Specialist will reach out to introduce themselves and let you know if they need any additional information to start the process.
- You may get additional questions about the information you submitted to us - we want to make sure we understand your education and practice background so we can communicate your medical credentials to request privileges.
- Every health system is different, some require more information than others, so the more information we have from you, the better prepared we’ll be, and the process will be faster.
- Your CVO Specialist is the central contact. Our goal is to handle as much of the process as possible for you.
- You will receive confirmation when you are cleared to go to work; this could come from your CVO Specialist or your recruiter.
- As you get closer to your start date, you’ll also begin to work with our Customer Care team, who will be taking care of your travel and accommodations.
Licensing
Things are really moving along now!
Here are some things that will make licensing happen:
- A Licensing Specialist will reach out to begin the process of applying for your new license. They will walk you through the steps required to apply for your license and will send you any relevant documents to complete.
- Pay attention to the overview your Specialist sends you to know what will be required for that particular state.
- Online applications require email verification so check your junk mail to ensure things aren’t being slowed down by spam filters. We will let you know when to be on the lookout for the verification.
- You need references for your license application. We will reach out to your references for you, please let them know to be expecting an email from us.
- Our CVO will coordinate the requests, including applications and verifications.
- Licensing can take a little longer than the credentialing process – your specialist will keep you updated once the application has been submitted and will update you (and your LT recruiter) on the process periodically until it’s issued.
