Emergency Medicine APP Needed in Fredericksburg, VA

Job description

Assignment Overview – Fredericksburg, VA:

Schedule: 3 night shifts (7P–7A) and 3 day shifts (7A–7P); must be flexible
Start: June
Duration: 13 weeks
Role: Nocturnist/Day coverage
Candidates: NP or PA accepted with active state license
Requirement: Must live 50+ miles from the facility (no locals)

Facility Overview:

~133-bed community hospital within the HCA Healthcare system
Services include ICU, OB, behavioral health, and cardiac care
24-hour emergency department; not a tertiary or academic center

Clinical Environment:

Moderate patient volume (~25,000–45,000 annual ED visits)
Steady pace with predictable peak times (afternoons, evenings, weekends)
Moderate acuity: mix of critical cases (sepsis, stroke, cardiac) and lower-acuity complaints
Major trauma typically transferred out

Staffing & Workflow:

Typically 1–2 physicians per shift with APP support
Physicians manage higher-acuity cases, procedures, and dispositions
APPs support lower-acuity and fast-track patients
Metrics-driven environment (HCA), with focus on efficiency and documentation

Overall:

Mid-sized community ED with balanced acuity and steady workflow
Less intense than large urban centers but not a low-volume rural site
