Job description

Aya Locums is seeking an Emergency Medicine NP/PA for a locum assignment at a community hospital in Northeast Virginia.

Assignment Details
• Start Date: June 2026
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Coverage Type: Scheduled Clinical Hours
• Schedule: Flexible; must be able to work both day and night shifts (nocturnist coverage required)
• Call Requirements: None
• Candidate Requirement: Must live 50+ miles from facility (no local candidates)

Work Details
• ED Volume: Estimated 25,000–45,000 annual visits
• Patient Volume: Approximately 1.8–2.5 patients per hour per provider
• Department Workflow: Balanced mix of high-acuity emergencies (sepsis, stroke, codes) and lower-acuity complaints; predictable surges during afternoons, evenings, and weekends
• Staffing Model: Typically 1–2 physicians per shift with APP support; physicians handle higher acuity and procedures while APPs manage lower-acuity and fast-track patients

Practice Setting
• Hospital – Community Emergency Department

Requirements
• License: Active Virginia license required
• Board Certification: Required (NP or PA considered)
• Certifications Required: BLS and ACLS required
• Experience: Prior emergency medicine experience strongly preferred; must be comfortable managing a broad range of acuity levels independently
