A board-certified Gastroenterologist is needed for a locum tenens assignment offering a balanced mix of inpatient and outpatient care. This is a great opportunity for providers seeking a part-time schedule in a supportive hospital and clinic environment.
Position Overview
Specialty: Gastroenterology
Start Date: As soon as credentialed
Assignment Length: Ongoing through early 2027 (with potential for extension)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Call: Optional
Practice Setting
Acute Care Hospital with affiliated outpatient clinic
Approximately 250-bed facility
Mix of inpatient rounding and outpatient endoscopy/clinic work
Collaborative practice with additional GI physician support
Clinical Responsibilities
Perform endoscopic procedures and GI consults
Provide inpatient rounding and manage admissions
Deliver outpatient clinic care and endoscopy services
Maintain timely documentation and continuity of care
Clinical Details
Patient Population: Adults (18+)
Patient Volume:
Outpatient endoscopy: ~14–16 cases per day
Clinic/endoscopy center: ~16 patients per day
Inpatient census varies
Procedures Include:
Colonoscopy
EGD
Flexible sigmoidoscopy
Dilation procedures
General GI procedures
ERCP not required but welcomed if available
Team Structure
Work alongside an experienced Gastroenterologist
Supportive clinical and administrative staff
Shared coverage model with other locum providers
Requirements
Board Certified in Gastroenterology
Active state medical license or eligibility through IMLC
Minimum of 2 years of recent clinical experience
BLS and ACLS certifications required
DEA required
Proficiency with Epic EMR
Recent clinical activity required within the last 24 months
Additional Information
Credentialing timeframe: Approximately 90 days
