General Surgery Nurse Practitioner Needed in New York
Target Start Date: February 23, 2026
Contract Length: 26‑week locum tenens assignment (6 months, ongoing)

Schedule
Coverage Type: Scheduled clinical hours + call
Shift Structure:

Option 1: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Option 2: Monday–Thursday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Call Requirements:

Weeknight and weekend call as needed to fill gaps

Most call covered through March except 1–2 nights

First week of April will require heavier call coverage due to vacations

Practice Details
Setting: Acute care hospital with Level III trauma services
Patient Volume: ~10–15 patients per day
Support Staff: Yes
Hospital Size: 94 beds (primary site) with additional affiliated hospitals in the region
EMR: Epic

Clinical Scope Includes:

First assist in general and robotic surgery

Trauma support (Level III trauma experience required)

OR coverage as primary responsibility

Floor coverage only if assignment is extended long‑term

Weekend rounding and call coverage as needed

Orthopedic experience is a plus

Requirements
Board Certification: Required

License: Active New York license required (not willing to license)

Certifications: BLS, ACLS

Experience:

Minimum 2 years recent surgical experience

General and robotic surgery required

Trauma experience required (Level III)

Recent Epic experience required

Credentialing Timeframe: ~6 weeks

Travel
Travel support may be available depending on assignment specifics.

Location
Potsdam, New York – General surgery practice within a regional acute care hospital; local or travel candidates welcome
