Job description

Aya Locums is seeking an experienced Cardiovascular Surgery Physician Assistant (PA) to provide full-time coverage at an academic training facility in Eastern Kentucky. This position offers a mix of first-assist operative work and rounding responsibilities.

Assignment Details
• Start Date: February 2026
• Contract Length: 3–6 months, option to extend
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7a–5p
• Call: Night call 5p–7a and weekend call required
• Coverage Requirement: Must be able to offer at least 1 week of M–F and call coverage

Work Details
• Amount of coverage needed: Full-time
• Patients per day: Morning rounds on 5–10 ICU patients with faculty (not responsible for first call)
• Patient population/age: Adults
• EMR: Epic
• Skills required: Proficient first assist in cardiovascular procedures, endoscopic vein harvesting (required), CABG assistance experience

Practice Setting
• Type: Academic/Training Hospital

Requirements
• Board Certification: Required
• License: Active Kentucky license required
• Experience: Minimum 1 year recent experience first assisting in cardiovascular surgery; must demonstrate proficiency in endoscopic vein harvesting and first assist skills; prior Epic EMR experience required
