About the clinician's workday

Duties include screening patients and performing complete histories and physical examinations; ordering/prescribing necessary medications, laboratory and radiologic studies, routine fluids, diets, patient activities, and similar patient care orders; performing surgical assistant responsibilities, including handling tissue, providing exposure, using instruments, suturing and tying, and ensuring hemostasis; responding to the Emergency Room to manage and/or assist with trauma resuscitations; and instructing patients on discharge information, home care of wounds, medication use, diet, and other aspects of healthcare.
