Mix of OR first assist + floor coverage with real surgical variety
Flexible summer schedule with 3x12s and optional call opportunities
Ongoing potential beyond summer for consistent long-term work

This is a strong-fit role for a PA who enjoys balancing OR time with inpatient management and wants flexibility in scheduling with steady case volume.

Schedule
Primarily 3x12s throughout summer
Additional flexibility: 5x8s or 4x10s options later
Day shifts typically 7a–7p
Optional call: weeknights (5p–7a) + weekend call availability

Assignment Dates
June through August coverage blocks
Potential to extend into a longer-term role

Clinical Setting
Acute care hospital
EMR: Epic

Scope of Work
First assist in the OR across general surgery, OB/GYN, and orthopedic cases
Inpatient rounding and floor management
Handle consults, orders, and discharges
Support surgical team across perioperative workflow

Procedures & Responsibilities
Suturing, stapling, and wound closure
Hemostasis and vessel management
Tissue handling, clamps, and surgical exposure
Assist with suction, irrigation, and operative flow
Positioning and intraoperative support

Patient Volume
~10–15 patients/day
Adult inpatient population with varied acuity

Support Team
Collaborative surgical team with physician oversight
Dedicated inpatient staff and anesthesia support

Requirements
PA certification
Active New York license
AHA BLS, ACLS, ATLS
Minimum 2 years of recent surgical experience
