North Carolina Hematology/Oncology Locums – Benign Heme-Focused, Outpatient

Job description

Community-based cancer center in central North Carolina is seeking a board-certified Hematology/Oncology physician for an outpatient-focused locum tenens assignment. Join a small, collegial team caring for adult patients in a low-acuity ambulatory setting, backed by a larger regional health system.

Practice Setting:
• Hospital-affiliated ambulatory Hem/Onc clinic
• Adults only (18+)
• Strong focus on benign hematology with general “bread and butter” oncology
• On-site infusion with nursing, navigator, pharmacy, APPs, and administrative support

Schedule & Assignment Details:
• Start: February 2026 (flexible within credentialing window)
• 3 clinic days/week, 8:00a–5:00p (Tuesday or Wednesday–Friday)
• On-call: infrequent, with some weekend call
• Patient volume: approximately 15 patients per clinic day
• EMR: EPIC

Clinical Scope:
• Follow-up and new consultations in hematology/oncology
• Emphasis on benign hematology (anemia, thrombocytopenia, coagulation, etc.)
• Management of common solid tumors in an outpatient setting
• Write orders and prescriptions, coordinate with infusion and pharmacy teams

Location & Lifestyle:
• Small North Carolina community (~14,500 residents) with a low cost of living
• Approximately 20–25 minutes to Greensboro and easy access to the rest of the Triad
• Ideal for physicians who enjoy a quieter home base but want quick access to city amenities
