Optometrist Opportunity – IHS Facility | Flexible Schedule | All-Inclusive Travel

Start Date: ASAP
Contract Length: Ongoing (6+ months)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Full-time)
Flexible scheduling options available: part-time, 2 weeks on/2 weeks off, month on/month off, etc.

Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Optometrist to join an Indian Health Services (IHS) facility serving a diverse patient population. This is an excellent opportunity for providers interested in meaningful, community-focused care—especially those with prior rural or Native health experience.

Practice Details

2 fully equipped exam lanes
Average 12–14 patients per day
Appointment times: 20–30 minutes depending on visit type
Bread-and-butter optometry cases

Services Include:

Routine comprehensive eye exams
Acute care (eye irritation, foreign bodies)
Glaucoma screening and management
Diabetic retinopathy screening (JVN imaging system)
Referrals to ophthalmology as needed
No surgical procedures performed onsite

Support Staff

1 Medical Support Assistant (MSA)
Operates JVN imaging system
Manages eyeglass ordering/repairs
Provides general clinic support
1 Optometry Technician position (currently in hiring process)

Travel & Logistics

All-inclusive travel package provided
No out-of-pocket travel expenses or reimbursements required

Requirements

Active Optometry license (any U.S. state accepted)
Credentialing timeframe: approximately 60 days
Additional requirements: TBD (please review submittal requirements)
