Locum Optometrist needed in Houlton/Island Falls, Maine

$130/hr + travel expenses (flight, lodging, rental car OR mileage reimbursement)

Start: 4/6/26

End: 10/30/26

Credentialing: 30 days

Schedule: Monday - Friday or the option to work 4 10/hr days

Patient Volume: 16 ppd

Procedures: Bread & butter Optometry- conduct vision exams, diagnose impairments, prescribe glasses, contacts, medications, and therapeutic procedures. Provide pre- and postoperative care. Manage diabetics, cataracts, glaucoma, and broader pathology including potential pituitary adenoma.

Additional Info: Support staff: 1-2 Optometric Techs (depending on staffing)
Clinic has two lanes, OCT, visual field, and iCare—plenty of equipment. Excellent access to ophthalmology; local specialists see urgent cases (e.g., retinal detachment) within 24 hours.
