LocumTenens.com Expands Mental Health Services with Psychology Staffing
Psychology staffing expected to help relieve burden on mental health professionals, improve outcomes for patients experiencing mental health issues
Alpharetta, Ga., July 14, 2020—LocumTenens.com, a leading physician and advanced practitioner staffing agency, announced today it is expanding its behavioral health services through the launch of psychology staffing. This addition complements the psychiatry staffing services the company has been offering for the past 25 years.
“The United States is currently facing a mental health crisis that has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Chris Franklin, president of LocumTenens.com. “Mental healthcare clinicians, particularly those residing in rural areas or places where there are limited resources for patients, are overwhelmed. Vulnerable populations don’t have access to the care they desperately need. Our psychology staffing services will help significantly increase access to behavioral health care.”
According to a recent LocumTenens.com survey, 73% of psychologist respondents indicated they are expecting to see more mental health issues arise in patients post-COVID-19. Additionally, 52% of clinicians across all specialties reported experiencing increased stress, burnout or mental health issues due to COVID-19, underscoring the importance of mental healthcare for clinicians as well.
Anna Shaw Children's Institute is already experiencing the benefits of its partnership with LocumTenens.com.
“We are thrilled with our Locum Tenens psychologist, and our families and patients are able to receive much-needed assessments and counseling,” said Terri Woodruff, executive director of the Children’s Institute. Because of the way the pandemic has disrupted their routines, children are an especially vulnerable population and may need additional resources and support during this time.
LocumTenens.com also announced that part of its psychology expansion will include telepsychology services via secure video conference connection. The company’s survey of clinicians revealed 74% of respondents’ organizations increased their telehealth service offerings due to COVID-19.
“For 25 years, we’ve helped facilitate psychiatrists providing life-saving care to patients all across the country,” said Kevin Thill, executive vice president of LocumTenens.com. “The expansion of psychology staffing services will no doubt complement and enhance the care our psychiatrists have been providing, and I’m excited to see the impact these psychologists have moving forward, both on patients and other clinicians who can benefit from mental healthcare.”
