Advanced Practice Provider (APP - NP/PA)- Department of Psychiatry

Job description

Full time NP/PA working in the Leatherman Behavioral Health Hospital in a collaborative role with the Psychiatry providers to assist in the triage and management of psychiatric patients who present to the hospital. Will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and work with a team of psychiatrists as part of the Mental Health ICCE, within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences

Hours per week: 40

Required Minimum Training and Education: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant. Or completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and currently licensed or eligible as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, as identified below.

• PMHNP (Psychiatric Mental Health NP): (All ages) population foci may be adult only or across the lifespan (must check educational background) care of the psychiatric patient.

Preferred Training: Physician Assistant (PA) or if APRN, License Type/Certification identified below:
• Physician Assistant
or
• APRN
o PMHNP (Psychiatric Mental Health NP): (All ages) population foci may be adult only or across the lifespan (must check educational background) care of the psychiatric patient.

Preferred experience: Minimum of one year of mental Health provider experience preferred.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations:
Currently licensed (or eligible) in the state of South Carolina as a Physician Assistant by the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners or as an PMHNP with the SC Board of Nursing. Requires certification in Basic Life Support (BLS). If BLS is not current, provider must enroll and have received certificate by start date. DHEC and DEA license applications must be submitted prior to first day.

• Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: Monday-Friday; 8am-5pm.
• Patient Population Focus: Inpatient, Outpatient and CSU (Crisis Stabilization Unit)
• Patient Population Age Range: 0-Death
