Cardiac Surgery Nurse Practitioner Needed Near Harrisburg, PA
Start Date: As soon as credentialed
Credentialing timeframe: ~90 days (temporary privileges available with clean file)
Contract Length: Ongoing contract (Locum Tenens – 1099)

Schedule

Weekend 24‑hour call coverage
Coverage: 3 weekends per month
Schedule:

Friday 5:00 PM – Monday 7:00 AM


24‑hour call with average callback ~4 hours/day
Surgeon available for backup after consults


Practice Details

Hospital-based cardiac surgery service
Urgent cardiac surgery coverage
Patients transition from ICU to home
Cath lab to surgical cases when indicated
No trauma coverage
EMR: Epic
Patient population: Adult (18+)


Clinical Scope

Cardiac surgery APP coverage
Responsibilities include:

Urgent surgical support
Cath lab to surgery cases
Post‑operative rounds and care


Special procedures include:

Vein harvesting




Requirements

Nurse Practitioner – Cardiac Surgery
Board Certified or Board Eligible
Active Pennsylvania license required (or willing to obtain)
DEA required (PA address required)
Minimum 3 years cardiac surgery experience required
Acute care certification not required

Provider questionnaire required at submission
NPDB self-query (within 6 months) required
Full malpractice disclosure required
Clean credentialing file strongly preferred

Credentialing

Full hospital credentialing required
Provider must be fully cleared at least 2 business days prior to start
Temporary privileges available for urgent needs with clean file
Committee and board approval required for permanent privileges
